From Rock Bottom
to Purpose.
My name is Alan T. and I am a grateful person in long-term recovery. Over nine years ago I made a decision that changed everything — and I have spent every day since building a life I never thought was possible.
Where I Came From
I grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn — adopted, and from a very young age carrying a deep sense of not belonging. I never felt like I fit in, and I spent years searching for something to fill that emptiness. At nine years old, I found what I thought was the answer. It wasn't.
What followed was decades of struggling with addiction — to alcohol, heroin, and cocaine. I cycled in and out of the justice system, spending time in institutions from juvenile detention to Rikers Island to state prison. I experienced homelessness. I hurt people I cared about. I lost years of my life that I can never get back.
But through all of it, I kept coming back to recovery meetings. I could see that people were getting better. I could see that there was a way out. I just hadn't fully committed to doing the work — until the day I finally had no choice but to change.
"I made a decision that I would do whatever was necessary to get and stay sober — one day at a time. From that day to this, I have not picked up a drink or a drug."
The Turning Point
On September 15, 2016, I began my recovery in earnest. I got a sponsor. I worked the 12 steps. I committed to a home group — and then another. I began to show up for other people the way others had shown up for me.
What the steps gave me was not just sobriety. They gave me a completely new way of seeing myself and the world around me. I began to understand the connection between my inner beliefs and my outer reality. That is when I discovered the Law of Attraction — and realized that the principles I was learning in recovery aligned perfectly with the idea that what we think and believe, we create.
I started to believe I was worthy of good things. And good things started to come.
"The things you think and believe about yourself always come true in your outside life. Change your beliefs — and everything changes."
Where I Am Today
Today I am over nine years sober with more than nine years of Law of Attraction experience. I have two home groups in Hamilton, New Jersey — one in Cocaine Anonymous and one in Alcoholics Anonymous. I sponsor others and walk with them through the same steps that saved my life.
I own and operate a successful small business. I created the 5 Minutes of Recovery app — a free daily recovery companion used by people across the country. And I am currently building the Recovery to Abundance app and platform, which bridges 12-step principles with Law of Attraction practices to help people not just get sober, but build extraordinary lives.
My life today is beyond anything I ever imagined possible. That used to sound like something people said at meetings. Now I know it is the truth — and I want that truth for you too.
If you are still in it — don't leave before the miracle happens.
The Principles Behind Everything I Build
Service First
Everything I build starts with service. Both apps are free and always will be. Recovery gave me everything — giving back is how I keep it.
Faith and Spirituality
A connection to a God of my understanding transformed my life. I share what worked for me and encourage everyone to find their own path to that connection.
Law of Attraction
What we believe about ourselves shapes our reality. Recovery gave me the foundation. The Law of Attraction showed me what was possible to build on top of it.
Honest and Real
No perfection. No pretense. Just honest conversation about recovery, mindset, abundance, and the work it takes to build something real from the ground up.
